West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Thursday slammed the Trinamool Congress (TMC), claiming the party is in deep crisis and its internal strife is tarnishing the state’s image. His remarks came in response to a public spat between TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Kalyan Banerjee that has triggered controversy across political circles.
“The party is now in the hands of anti-social elements. Nobody is able to manage it anymore. When their own MLAs and MPs fight in public, it brings shame to Bengal. This party must be done away with,” Ghosh said.
The statement follows BJP leader Amit Malviya sharing a video allegedly showing Moitra and Banerjee in a heated altercation at the Election Commission of India (ECI). Malviya also posted a screenshot of an alleged argument between Banerjee and TMC MP Kirti Azad on the party’s internal WhatsApp group.
Commenting on the episode, senior TMC leader and MP Saugata Roy revealed that Moitra was visibly upset and crying after the clash with Banerjee. He also criticized Banerjee’s derogatory comment against Azad in the group chat, calling it “third-class.”
Meanwhile, the BJP continued its offensive against the TMC, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserting that Bengal’s infiltration issues would end once Mamata Banerjee is removed from power. Supporting Shah, Ghosh accused the ruling party of enabling “corruption, infiltration, and violence” in the state, claiming these problems will vanish with the TMC’s exit.
Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar also took a swipe at the Bengal government, blaming Mamata Banerjee for the collapse of the state’s education system and the loss of thousands of jobs. “She has completely ruined education in West Bengal,” Majumdar said. “The TMC leadership must take responsibility for the crisis.”
